What Is ADAS Calibration?
ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) refers to the network of cameras, radar sensors, and laser modules mounted around your vehicle — most critically the forward-facing camera located behind your windshield, near the rearview mirror. This camera feeds real-time data to your vehicle's safety computer, enabling automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition.
When your windshield is replaced, this camera is physically detached and reattached. Even a shift of 1 millimeter in the camera's position can throw off its alignment by several meters at highway distances. A miscalibrated ADAS camera is a silent safety hazard: your car's automatic braking may activate too late, lane departure warnings may not trigger, and adaptive cruise control may misjudge the distance to the vehicle ahead.
Recalibration is not optional — it is a mandatory safety step required by every vehicle manufacturer after a windshield replacement.
Our Calibration Methods
Static Calibration
Performed in a controlled environment using precision target boards and laser alignment tools. The vehicle remains stationary while our certified equipment projects calibrated patterns for the camera to read and self-adjust. Required for Honda, Toyota, Subaru, and most Asian manufacturers.
Dynamic Calibration
Performed by driving the vehicle on a straight, well-marked road while a diagnostic tool communicates with the onboard computer. The camera calibrates itself by reading real road markings and traffic patterns. Common for Ford, GM, and some European models.

Why 1 Millimeter Matters
The forward-facing ADAS camera behind your windshield is a precision optical instrument. Its field of view and depth perception are factory-calibrated to micron-level accuracy. Here is what a 1mm misalignment means in real-world terms:
At 100 meters (328 ft) — approximately 3 car lengths at highway speed — a 1mm camera tilt translates to a 3.6-meter (12 ft) lateral measurement error. Your automatic braking system may miscalculate the position of the vehicle ahead by the width of an entire highway lane.
At 50 meters (164 ft) — typical following distance — the error is approximately 1.8 meters (6 ft). This is enough for a lane-keep system to misread your position within the lane markings.
This is why every vehicle manufacturer — Toyota, Honda, Ford, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and all others — mandates recalibration after windshield glass is removed and reinstalled. There is no "skip" option and no workaround.
